Dragonfly

TAG

Dragonfly is TAG’s storytelling and story-acting project, based on the ground-breaking work of the renowned early years practitioner, Vivian Gussin Paley.

Dragonfly places the child at the heart of his/her own learning and enhances the nursery and lower primary community, making it a place where children listen and speak freely. Dragonfly brings Paley’s ideas and practice vividly to life with the added drama expertise of TAG.

I think it is a marvellous approach - a breath of fresh air to make-believe play.

Nursery Staff

TAG’s Dragonfly project has trained Early Years Teachers and Child Development Officers in the technique of Storytelling and Story-acting, where nursery children dictate their own stories to a member of staff to be recorded into a shared “storybook”.  Members of the class then act out the story for an audience of their peers.

I thoroughly enjoyed this approach. You could see the excitement and genuine glee on the children’s faces acting out their stories and seeing them acted out. Satisfaction of ownership and being valued.
