Dragonfly & Language Sandwich

TAG

Early years storytelling and story acting project, which develops children’s listening and language skills and creates confident communicators. Based on the ground-breaking work of the renowned early years practitioner, Vivian Gussin Paley.

Dragonfly encourages children to tell, ‘write’ and act their own stories in their own words, making the nursery a place where children listen and speak freely.  Working collaboratively with school staff, TAG practitioners make sure the techniques needed to lead Dragonfly are passed on. To develop the confidence of older pupils, we can also train P6/7s to facilitate Dragonfly with those lower down the school.

I think it is a marvellous approach - a breath of fresh air to make-believe play.

Nursery Staff

Language Sandwich
is an offshoot of Dragonfly, designed for children who speak English as a second language.  The project builds confidence and enjoyment in using language and develops vocabulary.  TAG practitioners will work alongside teachers, group leaders or parents, to gather children’s stories and act them out, often with hilarious results!
