Emerge
Visiting Company
An opportunity for audiences to go behind the scenes of the National Theatre of Scotland development process and to share their views on the work.
The National Theatre of Scotland currently has seven emerging artists on attachment, supported by Bank of Scotland. In the first of a series of intimate events, these artists are willing to share their work at its earliest stage and talk about their experiences.
The night will see all seven artists on attachment present their work. A filmed extract will be shown of Alan Bissett’s new play Red Hourglass, a love story from the perspective of a pet tarantula performed by Alan; Stef Smith will work alongside New Director Jenna Watt to present an extract from The Silence of Bees about the plight of the common bee and those people whose futures are intertwined with their existence; Amanda Monfrooe will direct and perform an extract from her new play Farmville, a surreal take on Social Media; Molly Taylor will present an extract from her play about the myriad beginnings of life directed by Amanda Gaughan and Ross Mackey will deliver an extract from his one man show where he explores the murky world of Victorian séances and plumbs the depths of his own conscience.
Audiences are invited to join the Artistic Development team and artists to sample the work, express their opinions and have a cup of tea afterwards.
This series of events is supported by the Citizens Theatre.
