The Monster in the Hall

TAG

A new play by David Greig, at the Citizens and touring in Autumn 2010.

Duck Macatarsney cares for her biker dad whose MS is getting increasingly bad. Her Dad - Duke - is a spliff smoking (for medicinal reasons you understand), bike riding, heavy metal loving, horror movie loving, pizza eating widower who’s brought up Duck since the death of her Mother in a crash. The two of them are just about surviving when one morning the Duke wakes up blind and the Duck hears that the Social Services are coming to take her away.

The Monster in the Hall follows Duck as she tries to protect her world from the terrifying prospect of change.

A low budget indie comedy musical about a girl on the verge of a nervous breakdown played out by four actors and a big fat motorbike which goes vrrooommm.

A new play from the same team that created the smash hit Yellow Moon (Best Show for Children and Young People TMA Awards 2007).

Truth Alone

7th March 2010

I see that you forgot to mention that the house Rachel was protecting was the home of a suicide bomber, who had successfully blown himself up in a public bus. He killed many, Israelis and Palestinians, and she was protecting the family home, that was to be demolished. I guess the Citizen's Theater cares nothing about the truth, only the propaganda they want to show. You are also missing the pics of Rachael, screaming and burning the flag, a real nice gal, she was. Human rights is not for terrorism, but human rights!

Saw this last night in the Citzs - wonderful! Will recommend this show to others. As for the comments from the 'musician' - get a life! The Hamburg days reflect an inexperienced, hard working band who dabbled in drugs, in reality I doubt very much that they were 'tight'. Thank goodness they developed into what they became. Also they play was about a love triangle, maybe you missed the point.

Thank you and congratulations to all involved. This child of the sixties had tears in her eyes and a huge smile on her face. I had a hairs rising on the back of the neck moment when Stu re-appeared and Astrid told John that Stu would always be there.

Hi, the show is not touring, just at the Citizens Theatre. We are in fact very close to the City Centre. The theatre is just 10 mins walk across Victoria Bridge from M&S on Argyle St., with Bridge St. Underground very close by (and plenty of free car parking space). Click on "About" in our main menu and we have lots of directions in "Find Us". Hope you can make it.

I would love to see the play but the Citizen's is too awkward in the evening. Will it be performed in Edinburgh or even the city centre Glagow or elsewhere in Scotland?

Saw Backbeat last night and it was truly FAB! The design of the set blew my mind, so clever and visually enthralling. The entire show was amazing, thoroughly enjoyable two hours of theatre, everyone involved in the production should be proud of themselves......what to see it again and again!

Thanks to all concerned for a great evening's entertainment (on Monday 1 March). The staging and individual performances were exemplary and even knowing the ending didn't detract from the power of the drama as it unfolded. Kudos to the 'band' also - anyone who comes along expecting the slick perfectionism of a tribute act should stick with the Bootleg Beatles. To these eyes and ears, the musical numbers were delivered with all the raucous energy and enthusiasm that I'm sure typified the Fab Five's Hamburg days and, as such, were absolutely on the money. If you haven't seen this show yet and can still find a ticket, don't hesistate.

What a great night, lucky Glasgow to get the show before the rest of the UK. Acting was to a high calibre and music very good as well.Young enthusiastic cast, enjoyed the encore with the dancing usual Glasgow crowd all on their feet! Mixed age audience but listening to the commenst all enjoyed very much. have told my friends and relations how good it was and they can't wait for it to appear in London/South East.

Wow! Super acting, very good use of theatre technique. And actors who can play and sing as well as act. Wonderful! I am now trying to get hold of the film version which I missed at the time. I thought about this show so many times in the following week. Isabella looked very elegant in her many subtle costume changes.
