The Breadcrumb Trail - Summer School

Citizens Learning

ARCHIVE

Scottish Ballet and Citizens Learning are running a week-long dance and drama residency for 6-8 year olds during the summer holidays. The participants will explore themes from Hansel & Gretel as well as outdoor activities that will culminate in an outdoor performance at the Hidden Gardens, Tramway.

The residency will involve a mixture of dance, drama and artwork sessions led by staff from Scottish Ballet and Citizens Theatre, along with music sessions, live accompaniment and tailored, outdoor sessions with a Bushcraft specialist. All of the activities will take inspiration from much-loved children’s tale Hansel & Gretel.

Both drama and dance sessions will explore themes from the story, using text, movement, music and imagery, whilst the outdoor session will expand on the themes looking at problem-solving, team-work and imagination through creative outdoor play.

Part of Scottish Ballet’s Hansel & Gretel, and Me programme of work.

Hi this sounds fab and I think my 7 year old daughter would love it. However I wondered if it would be possible to do the week but for 2 of the days Monday and Thursday would she be able to leave 20 mins early. As she does gymnastics and the training does not stop over the summer. Kind regards Michelle smith
