The Citizens Theatre is for everyone.
We want you to feel welcome and safe throughout our venue. We aim to maintain equality, diversity, access and inclusion across all that we do.
Our staff are here to enhance your experience and to always ensure your safety. Please follow any guidance they give in relation to your and others comfort and safety.
Show and event guidance
People are at the heart of everything we do. We want our audiences to enjoy our shows and events in a way that makes them most comfortable.
You are welcome to laugh, clap, cheer or even cry, theatre can be there to move us. But watching theatre of a collective experience and we need all audiences to be mindful of each other.
If behaviour is affecting others audience members or performers, our staff will communicate with those involved.
For some productions, we also offer relaxed performances with an even less formal environment.
Latecomers
Latecomers will not be seated until a suitable break in the performance, which may not be until the interval. Please note that certain shows are performed without an interval and therefore late seating may not be possible.
Filming and photography
We encourage filming and photography within our front of house areas. Feel free to snap a photo of your drink in the bar, or our striking new Courtyard.
Once you enter one of our theatre spaces, and a performance has started, filming or photography is not permitted.
Attending with children
Children (ages 15 years and under) must be supervised at all times. Supervision of children require at least 1 adult (aged 18 years or over) per 10 children and the supervising adult must sit next to the child or children.
We recommend that infants under 18 months with a babes in arms ticket only attend productions that are stated as being appropriate for very young children.
If a child attending is causing a disturbance, it will be suggested that the parent/carer leave the performance space to settle the child. We will aim get you back into to the performance as soon as possible.
Refusal of admission
We reserve the right to refuse admission to a customer or to ask them to leave the venue where reasonable circumstances such as health and safety matters, licensing reasons or where a ticket is found to be invalid or void.
