Vanishing Point presents
Future Works
03 Feb 2026
Event details
Future Works is a double-bill of works-in-progress by theatre makers Jack Hunter and Suzi Cunningham, which we hope will become shows in future.
Flight of the Pupniks is an inventive new idea by Jack Hunter about Belka and Strelka, the first higher living organisms to survive orbital space flight. This story of two dogs caught up in the space race and who lived to tell the tail, will be chock full of stars, space rockets and political espionage. Combining elements of puppetry, music and physicality, Flight of the Pupniks will be a thrilling sci-fi comedy drama for younger, and all, audiences.
Inhabitants will be a dance and visual installation about ancient connections to stone and earth, rebirth and rewilding, where lines between lifeforms are erased. It features a solo performance by Suzi Cunningham, a Scottish live-performance artist and Scotland’s foremost female Butoh (Japanese dance theatre) artist. Her work has a strong ecological and political focus, exploring how primal elements merge with the modern world. Expect something visual, organic and messy. Created with Alex Auld-Smith, Tracey Wedderburn and Alison Brown.
Future Works is a laid-back event, where you can get a glimpse of shows still in the process of being made. The artists would love your feedback, whether by your presence in the theatre or through a chat with them afterwards in the bar. If you’re a practitioner yourself, it’s also a chance for you to meet people, discuss things and socialise.
