We know that a visit to the theatre starts before the curtain goes up. We want your experience to be as special and as comfortable as possible. With lots of new spaces to explore, including a new Studio Theatre and viewing windows into our backstage areas, a lot has changed since our doors were last open.

Getting here
Location
Our theatre sits just south of the River Clyde and a short walk south of the city centre.
Public transport
Visiting the theatre on public transport.
- A number of First Bus Greater Glasgow buses pass by the front of the theatre.
- We are located close to Bridge Street Subway station.
- The theatre is a 15 – 20 minute walk from Glasgow’s two main train stations, Glasgow Central station and Glasgow Queen Street station.
Parking
We have a small car park available adjacent to the theatre. There are four blue badge parking spaces located closest to the building. Early arrival on performance evenings to secure a space is recommended.
Cycle-Friendly Facilities
We have secure bike parking for up to 20 bikes, making it easy for cyclists to visit us. Conveniently located on the South City Way, one of the city’s newest and most popular cycling routes.
Cyclists can also make use of our free bike repair and pump station, available to everyone.
These facilities were made possible through funding from Cycling Scotland. We have also been recognised as a Cycling Friendly Organisation.
Funded by the Scottish Government’s People and Place Programme and delivered through SPT, working with Cycling Scotland.
Courtyard Cafe Bar
We have a range of refreshments available to enjoy in our brand new Cafe Bar. Pop in during the day for a coffee and a catch up with friends, head along before a performance for pre-show pizza or make the most of your evening out with an interval pint of Citz Craft Lager.

Our new space
The transformative project is the first full redevelopment of the Citizens Theatre in over 140 years as a working theatre.
Designed by architects, Bennetts Associates, construction on the new and improved Citizens Theatre started in 2019 and we are delighted to be welcoming audiences back.
