All We Can Do Exhibition: Inside-outside

As part of Assemble, the Citz has invited one of our long-term project groups to create a new exhibition for our Circle Foyer.  

Inside-Outside has been created by women at The Lilias Centre, a Community Custodial Unit in Glasgow that provides safe, secure, and trauma-informed accommodation designed specifically for women. The work is inspired by the art of assemblages—a way of making by bringing together found, everyday materials and objects.  By collecting and combining different objects, the artists share their experiences, interests, and thoughts for the future. 

The exhibition features textile work exploring the art of quilting, where fabrics are stitched together to form a whole, as well as a series of box works. These boxes hold ideas, memories, and reflections. Offering a glimpse into each woman’s thoughts, dreams, and sense of what lies ahead. Together, the works explore themes of being inside and outside – of spaces, systems, and ways of thinking, and highlight the strength found in making, gathering, and sharing.

The exhibition will run until September 2026.
