Up Stage: Crafting together
20 Jun 2026
Event details
Join us for Up Stage, a hands-on workshop where you’ll explore how to turn costumes and textiles from past productions and projects into something completely new.
Over the last year we have enjoyed monthly meet-ups with people who share a love of crafting. We’ve explored no-longer-used costume pieces, and made all sorts of wonderful items.
For Assemble we are inviting participants to join us in crafting with surplus material from our huge community banner that was part of re-opening Homecoming performance. The banner was exhibited on our roof as we re-opened, and now feels like the perfect moment to reinvent additional materials. Take part in a relaxed handcrafting session to create your own small, customised item from this piece of Citz heritage. From headscarves or blanket patches, to pin cushions or fabric-covered phone case, get ready to mix crafting, upcycling and a touch of Citz history.
Whether you’re a curious beginner or a keen crafter, this session is a chance to get creative, connect with the theatre’s heritage, and help us imagine new ways to breathe life into materials once destined for the stage.
