Homecoming Community Procession

Marking our opening moment

Event details

Page Navigation

We’re launching our Homecoming celebrations with a joyful community procession through the heart of the Gorbals – created for and with the people who call it home. Setting off at 12.30pm from The Barn, local residents and community groups are invited to lead the way to the Citizens Theatre, marking its official reopening with energy, colour, and pride.

At the head of the procession are two magnificent puppets, Comedy and Tragedy, inspired by the Greek goddesses Thalia and Melpomene. Since the theatre closed in 2018, they’ve had nowhere to play. Now, they’re finally coming home – and they want you to walk with them.

Along the route and on arrival, you’ll enjoy a series of performances and interactive moments, co-created with our Participate groups. The moments are inspired by our remaining statues that have long watched over the Citz who represent Song (Euterpe),  Poetry (Burns),  Dance (Terpsichore), and Story (Shakespeare).

These performances celebrate music, movement, words, and imagination, brought to life by the community at the heart of the Citz. We can’t wait to welcome you.

Family Friendly
