Enhance your visit to Othello at the Citizens Theatre with an in-depth, practical workshop designed especially for school and college groups. 

This large-scale session takes place in the auditorium, scheduled before a 6pm performance, and offers a unique opportunity for students to explore the production from the inside. 

Led by a member of our Participate Team the session is an interactive deep dive into the creative process behind the show.

This workshop is designed for high-capacity groups and can be tailored to suit different learning focuses.

2 hrs (ahead of Othello performance)

£12.50 per pupil. Teachers are free.

Othello performance tickets are £10 per person for school groups and must be purchased alongside the workshop.

Between the workshop and performance, there’ll be time and space for eating food.

About the workshop

This session offers a dynamic, hands-on way to deepen understanding of the play, the production, and the collaborative nature of theatre-making. 

During the session, you’ll explore topics such as:

Text in Action
Students experience key scenes performed live, then unpack how meaning shifts through subtext, intention, and delivery. 

Behind the Scenes
Discover the technical craft of theatre-making by watching a live scene change, with insight from the backstage team who make it happen. 

Rehearsal Room Insights
Explore how performance choices are developed, as a director works through a scene, demonstrating how different interpretations can transform the story.
