Afternoon play-reading sessions aimed at the young at heart and mature in years. This season reading Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard. Scripts, tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Inside the Rehearsal Room - Hamlet

Aimed at: Higher and Advanced Higher Drama students

This practical, pre show workshop will be led by the assistant director, and will give your pupils the chance to explore the director’s intentions and practical techniques used with actors in rehearsal.  The session will reveal the play’s key ideas and themes and look at character development and staging choices. This workshop will support Section B of Higher Drama exam, writing about a performance that the learner has seen.

Wednesday 1 & Thursday 2 October, 4.30-6.30pm, Circle Studio

Inside The Play – Hamlet

Aimed at:  Higher and Advanced Higher English students

This practical, pre show session will be led by the assistant director and staff from the Citizens Learning team, and will explore plot, themes, language, characters and their relationships using practical techniques to bring the play alive.  This session will focus on a key scene and look at what its impact is in the rest of the play. An active learning session, designed with the needs of English students in mind.

Wednesday 8 October, 4.30-6.30pm, Circle Studio
Cost: £6.50 per pupil (teachers go free)
Capacity: 30 pupils

Inside A Professional Technical Rehearsal

Aimed at: NC4/NC5 Drama students

Gain special access to the Citizens auditorium as the production and creative team complete part of a technical rehearsal for Hamlet on the main stage.  This is an excellent opportunity to see how the jobs involved in creating a performance interlock in practice. Beforehand entering the auditorium, pupils will be briefed on what they will see, and the jobs of the staff involved.  Afterwards they’ll have the chance to ask questions to help them understand this fascinating process, which the public never see!  Available for up to up to 30 young people.

Tuesday 16 & Wednesday 17 September, 11am – 12.30pm

A guided tour around our historic and iconic theatre. Explore backstage areas including our wardrobe store, Victorian paint frame and understage areas and hear about the vibrant history to our Gorbals home. Lasts 1hr. Only 20 places, so book early!
