What we do

Harnessing creative wellbeing for all and building community through theatre

We believe creativity should be accessible to everyone. Our adult programmes focus on creative wellbeing, connection, and expression – whether you’re trying theatre for the first time or returning to a lifelong passion.

On this page you’ll find a range of opportunities to get involved, from drop-in social groups to regular workshops and collaborative performances. There are lots of ways to join in.

Theatre Lab

Explore theatre from page to stage

Designed for passionate non-professionals who want to dive deeper into the world of theatre and who are keen to socialise through a love of theatre. Theatre Lab offers year-round opportunities to engage and learn more.

Playreading
We read and discuss plays together. We run two groups, one in person and another online. We aim to run three blocks in a year, August – October, January – March and April – June.

Scenic Insights
We delve into the world of set and costume design. This is one 6-week block once a year, usually running from October to November.

Acting
We explore a range of performance styles and methods inspired by work happening or previously performed at the Citz. This runs once a year, usually Jan-March over a 10-week block.

Throughout the year, we also offer a range of one-off workshops. These are usually half-day or full-day sessions that focus on specific part of the theatre-making. Previously, we have done upcycling with Citz costumes and writing workshops exploring characters and hidden stories.

The Gorbals Vampire
A large number of actors on a stage are facing the camera, crouching down and raising their hands to the sky. They are dressed in a variety of drab clothes from the 1950s. One actor is lying on the ground in the centre of the stage with the other actors gathered round him. He has a grimaced face. Another actor is standing at the very back of the stage. He is standing on a wall above the others looking out to the camera with one hand in the air.
