Three Sisters
ARCHIVE
The Citizens Theatre and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama present a new interpretation of Chekhov’s timeless masterpiece. Three Sisters is an epic family saga which will be presented with energy and vitality by final year students from RSAMD.
One year after the death of their father, three daughters living in a small provincial town dream of escaping to Moscow to find a life worthy of their intellect and station. Instead they find themselves trapped, lonely and despairing, unable to extricate themselves from their rustic surroundings. But the arrival of a charming officer turns their world upside down and reminds them that happiness is possible.
Chekhov believed that life is lived in ordinary moments, and this classic play aches with unrequited love and perpetual longing.
In tandem with this main stage production, the RSAMD also present Plasticine in the Circle Studio.

Springboards
A new and unique industry partnership between the RSAMD and the Citizens Theatre.
Scotland’s conservatoire for drama training and one of its most iconic theatre companies have come together to establish a new and ambitious long-term collaboration to provide vocational education and training. As ‘professionals in training’, the final year students are considered emerging artists and Springboards will provide a secure progression route as they move from full time education into the world of work. In its first pilot year, 42 final year students will collaborate with professional directors, designers, actors, stage managers and technicians to create two productions. The collaboration aims to develop a unique model of performance training which will make a significant contribution to Scotland’s creative and technical production skills-base.

I found the actress playing Olga truly convincing, and loved the light-hearted relief provided by the strong supporting male cast. Excellent adaptation, great acting and visually gorgeous, very impressed and look forward to more work from these talented students.

Well done to everyone involved. Great to see such a young cast on the main stage of the Citizens. I thought the main girl playing Masha was excellent. Looks like a pro already.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Congratulations to all involved. Can't agree at all with comment from Amy (no surname) above. Some performances were better than others (aren't they almost always?). Some were excellent. there were lots of laughs. Stage set in the final act was stunning. Music was wonderful. Given the youthfulness of the cast this was a production to be proud of. Personally I don't like star rating systems so will not choose one.
